10-year warranty only honored if you pay

MattLDP6810SS 11/2/2024

The dishwasher is extremely loud and does not complete the cycle. Refer to this video. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/1-0vq8kXMtk When I asked about the motor warranty they said I can only get a new motor if I pay them $300 for their technician to come out for a service visit.

Jeremy12 10/5/2024

Terrible dishwasher. Wont clean even wet milk out of a toddler drink cup. The bars dont spin when water is coming out even in a 3.5h cycle. Had Best Buy Geek Squad out to repair about 6 times they replaced most of the guts and it *still* doesnt work. LG support said its working fine. Very much regret this purchase. Picture is of spaghetti sauce jars after a heavy wash that clearly has no water getting in the jar at all.

Great features terrible machine due to leaking

jvo1 9/24/2024

We have dealt with this unit from November of 2022 till our extended warrantee coverage finally agreed it could not be repaired. We had repairmen into service the unit at least 6 times and an additional couple of times when the wrong control unit was shipped. Our complaint was leaking on the left side of the door as you faced the unit. The features this machine offered were outstanding. It was so quiet we had to put our ears to it to be sure it was running in the beginning. Maybe it was simply a lemon but it didnt work for us.

What at piece of junk

Duscusted 9/23/2024

LDP6810SS Purchased Aug. 2021 less than three years old Im 76 years old and Ive owned many pieces of equipment over the years and I can say without a doubt that this is the absolute worst piece of junk I have ever owned. Ive had other dishwashers that have lasted over ten years without problems and washer/dryers that have lasted almost 30 years requiring only a drive belt replacement and thats when I had three kids. Im one person and the dishes are rinsed before theyre loaded. Heres a history of the problems Ive had in just the first three years: Aug. 2021 Initial purchase. Aug. 2021 - Loud thumping noise about two minutes into the wash cycle. Three service reps replaced a bunch of parts guessing at what the problem was. Turned out to be the plastic diverter valve disk was warped. Bending the valve back into shape solved the problem. May 2023 - Pump motor caught fire yes smoke flames. Replaced under warranty. Jul. 2023 - Upper basket starting to rust. One set of the lower basket foldable times wont stay up. Oct. 2023 Door latch switches failed. These switches are rated at 120VAC but used in a 5 VDC application. Any little bit of film buildup on the contact surface and they dont make contact. Oct. 2023 Door gasket leaking. In addition to water on the floor the escaping heat also damaged the front display/control panel. Jan. 2024 - Pump motor over heated 2nd time. LG replaced as safety issue. Jan. 2024 - Middle basket guide rails failed both sides. Jul. 2024 Unit powers on for about ten seconds and then display goes blank. No error codes. Three service calls needed to locate the problem. Turned out the turbidity sensor had leaked causing a short which in turn damaged the main control board. Over $500 three service calls numerous calls to LG tech support and a month invested to get it back up and running. What a piece of junk LG Technical Support was of little help. On the plus side its quite and looks nice. More effort should have been put into reliability and less into the multitude of seldom-used features.

KCinBC 7/29/2024

Not this two years ago and already replacing motor. LG service is a pain to deal with and even though the part is covered by a long warranty Im fighting to get paid back as you have to pay for the entire thing up front to get them to even schedule someone to look at it.

Kudzma 7/24/2024

I was disappointed to learn that the wash and dry cycles take 2 1/2 hours. To me thats a long time to run an electric appliance these days. In addition the salesperson told us that plastic in the machine itself and the plasticware put in it would come out dry and it does not.

Leaks about 1 out of 4 times run

Mark in Denver 6/19/2024

The dishwasher does a great job washing the dishes unless it is leaking. It leaks about 1 in 4 times that we run it. We need to put a wash towel under the front door every time we run it. Then we check to towel about 20 minutes into the wash to see it it is wet. We are working on getting it repaired.

Dishwasher keeps getting BE error. Called tech paid the $325 fee to fix it still errors out on a cycle. Called again they sent another tech. This time no cost but the thing still errors on a wash cycle following the instructions that tech left us. Now calling a third time. This is a very expensive dishwasher Id expect more. its only a couple years old. my previous dishwasher lasted over 20 years and was working when we replaced it. I am very disappointed with LG.

Disappointing

Sue605 4/28/2024

So frustrated with this dishwasher. The previous homeowners had just had it installed brand new shortly before we bought our home about 2 years ago or I would replace it with a competitor brand Ive had great experience with for the last 18 years. I follow the machine manual maintain the machine per LG instructions use high quality dishwasher detergent drying agent am careful not to overload live in an city with great quality water and yet for the last year Ive had ongoing problems with my dishes not getting clean and the dishwasher itself not being rinsed well. Because the upper middle rack does not seem to connect well to the water spout on the back wall of the dishwasher I pulled it out today and discovered that all three of the rubber silicone? Plastic? Who knows? seals are literally disintegrating/crumbling. I cant seem to find a replacement part for just that small piece without buying the whole component that includes the sprayer arm. Wasteful and expensive. It costs almost 1/4 of what it would cost to place the entire machine and apparently wont last more than 2-3 years. And thats with doing the labor myself. On top of that this machine is not particularly quiet but at least not unbearable since I run it at night while we sleep. Overall very disappointing because Ive had good experience with LG refrigerators washers and dryers over the last 18 years. Would not buy an LG dishwasher in the future though.

Fraudulent warranty advertising

Ivanairs 3/21/2024

I bought this dishwasher 2 years ago last week the motor started doing a grinning sound. Although the dishwasher is no longer under warranty the motor is warranted for 10 years. I called LG to inform them I went back and forth for a week now they are just horrible. I stated that I want them to send me another motor and I would have someone install it they gave me very excuse under the sun not to send a a new motor. I purchased it through Amazon and hopefully it will work or Im out $800.00 dollars. I can tell you I will never purchase anything from LG again.

TRASH PRODUCTS

bpmeely 3/16/2024

Your products are trash and so is your warranty. Used all LG to furnish a new home remodel and 3 of the appliances are broken/cracked and already having to be repaired not even having used them for a yearmost of that time just sitting in the house waiting for the finished remodel. Your customer service was horrendous and I had to initiate all contact and continue to ask for updates on my claim and badger to get anyone to speak to me or reply to all the uploaded documentation. Just horrible.

Avoid - motor goes out after 1 year

thisisiswright 3/4/2024

Super unhappy with this washer. It worked well for the first year but soon after the motor started making a loud noise. When I inquired about the warranty it was out of warranty. The 10 year motor warranty wouldnt cover the the repair man coming out to diagnose the issue having to submit a warranty claim for a new motor and then coming back to install the motor. It would be cheaper to buy a new dishwasher. Very disappointed LG doesnt stand behind their products especially products on the higher end.

Motor went out in the first year. Avoid

thisisiswright 3/4/2024

My dishwasher motor started to make a lot of noise. Unfortunately my warranty had expired recently so I am stuck taking care of the cost of replacing it. Supposedly the 10 year motor warranty should cover the cost but by the time I have the repairman come and diagnose reach out to LG to get the part and then come back and install it It would be cheaper to just buy a new washer. Very disappointed

Efficient layout but other features not great

ATXmtb1 2/14/2024

The short version is that I love the inside of this dishwasher but not a big fan of the outside or the programming. Here is the long version. Starting with the inside this may be the best designed interior I have seen. The tines that hold plates and bowls are very well spaced and they ALL are adjustable so that they can be lowered out of the way depending on what you happen to be washing. The adjustable heigh middle rack has fold out cup racks for keeping stemware in place. Just make sure that both sides of the rack are adjusted to the same height so that the water connection at the back attaches properly when you push the rack in. The middle height setting is generally perfect for me allowing my flexible cutting boards on the bottom to clear the middle spray arm while letting me put taller glassware in the middle rack. I have taken advantage of the rack height adjustability but only rarely. I really like the top rack and the fact that the left side also has a height adjustment for deeper items. I generally use that adjusted to the deepest setting and almost always have that rack at least half full. The shallow side sees less use but I like that I can put small items there that I used to always have to hand wash and dont worry about them falling through. With all the possible adjustments and efficient placement of the tines I feel like I can get almost twice in this machine as my previous dishwasher. The only real ding I have for the inside design is the handle on the silverware basket. It is wide and interferes with a decent portion of the available space. The good news is that with a butter knife you can depress the clips that hold it in place on each side and remove it. Just a little less convenient not having a handle but gives much more space to load silverware. I never had a silverware basket with slots but this one works great and I really like the feature. My mom got a new dishwasher after me of a different brand and their silverware basket seems less efficient with the spacing. Another inside feature to mention is the fact that there is no heating element. I have some mixed feelings here. This means that plastic that may fall below wont get melted on a hot burner and this is probably more gentle on my dishes and plasticware so thats good. They use heat from the wash process that is trapped by your dishes to affect the drying. Initially ALL of my dishes were coming out completely wet. This unit REQUIRES that you use a rinse aid to help with the drying process. Using that does make my China and silverware come out dry and plastics will have some water but significantly less than before. They do allow you to adjust the amount of rinse aid added and I have had good luck with the lowest setting. I dont like the idea of having extra chemicals from the rinse aid added to the surface of my dishes but this seems to be the current trend and I can at least set the amount to low. Cascade rinse aid says that if it gets in your mouth you should rinse your mouth drink a glass of water and call poison control. LG did include an extra dry option but that adds over an hour to the process and though its been a while since I tried using that with no rinse aid it seems like my dishes were still wet. I do use the night dry which uses a fan to assist with drying once the wash is complete but doesnt change the run time. It simply operates for a while after the run time has ended. Opening the door during night dry cancels any additional fan time. Now for the outside. The appearance is fine. Its pretty plain. The controls are on top rather than the front which I have mixed feelings about. They are easy access while the door is open and give a sleek appearance with the door closed but that means that when in use you have no idea what program was selected or how much time is left on the cycle since the countdown timer is also located on top. I would prefer to have some information on the front especially the timer and maybe a confirmation of the cycle settings but this is somewhat offset with the fact that this unit has wi-fi connectivity and you can download an app that gives you some of this information on your smart phone. There actually are 3 lights on the front that provide some information but they are not labeled and it was quite a while before I realized what they meant. Basically they represent error run or pause and completed cycle. The completed cycle light self-cancels when you open the door. I wish there was an option that made it a user cancelled indicator because if I open the door to assist the drying process then no one else knows that they are clean. The solution for this was to put a magnetic label on the dishwasher that I can manually set to show if the dishes are clean or dirty but I really shouldnt have to do that with an $800 dishwasher. The programming for this dishwasher seems poor to me. There are a lot of choices but its complicated enough that you have to refer to the manual to try to sort them all out. Some of the buttons will toggle between 2 different cycles but there is no indication of which one you have chosen other than to look at the countdown timer as a clue. There are add on features but not all the extras work with every cycle so again you have to refer to the manual to see what will work. For instance I have wanted to run the half load add on to wash only the upper or lower rack but that is not available with the Express setting that I normally use. Finally they really didnt design this unit for anyone who does any pre-cleaning with their dishes. Having been around for a while I realize that pre-cleaning is the best way to get clean dishes and not have food sprayed off of one dish only to land on another. Fortunately they did provide one mode Express that seems to work well for my normal pre-washed needs and it only runs about hour. All the other modes run well over an hour up to several hours which seems just too long. Part of that has to do with the sensing portion of the wash cycle where the dishwasher tries to determine how dirty your dishes are. I have had this unit for almost 2 years and had little issue other than a couple of times once I got the drying issue resolved. Once after putting my dishes away I noticed that the soap dispenser was still closed. Another time I noted that there was liquid gel soap running down the door under the dispenser indicating that the soap dispenser door had somehow opened after the cycle was complete. This will be a huge problem if it persists and I now try to check after every wash cycle which is a hassle. LG says this can happen if anything blocks the stream of water from the middle sprayer because that is what activates the soap dispenser. I do not think anything was blocking the front but its something to keep in mind while loading. Lastly there is an issue with the middle rack in that it can be finicky in its connection at the back when pushing it in. This will be magnified if the 2 sides of the adjustable rack are at different levels but seems to be somewhat of an issue all the time. If you try closing the door and it will not close the middle rack is probably not seated fully against the back wall. This is the same rack that contains the sprayer that is activating the soap dispenser and so I am wondering if it is possible that I was somehow able to close the door without having that back connection fully intact because that could also explain why the soap dispenser failed to function properly.

Motor Did not las 2 years

TomasFdz 2/11/2024

Good Dishwasher until the motor stoped working not even 2 years in. We contacted customer service and yeah it has 10 year warranty but you have to pay the LG technician to tell you it doesnt work after you for dure know it doesnt work then go through the hassle of them submitting an order to replace if the find it is the motor not working. You are better off buying the part yourself than then playing their waiting game and paying them to tell you the motor does work when you clearly know it doesnt work. So much for a 10 year warranty.

LG Dishwasher Mainboard issues after 1-1/2 years

LGuser2020 2/2/2024

My honest review is that LG dish washer stopped dispensing hot water. Dishes are not drying and not cleaning as they should. This dish washer is only 1-1/2 years old. LG tech diagnosed main board has problems and heating element is not working. The repair estimate is quite expensive.

Great Features

rick1533 2/2/2024

Ive had this dishwasher for several weeks. It is so much better than previous unit. TrueSteam and QuadWash features are a vast improvement. Love the HeatedDry feature. No more taking wet items out of the dishwasher. The sleek look and fingerprint resistant stainless steel finish are awesome. The sturdy racks are a great advancement. Overall super pleased so far. Still learning all the new features. Expect to enjoy this a long time. Great dishwasher at a good price.

Frustration and Disappointment with LG Dishwasher

WT93 1/17/2024

I regret to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the LG dishwasher I purchased. This appliance has been nothing short of a nightmare requiring multiple service visits. My ongoing battle with LG over this dysfunctional dishwasher is beyond frustrating. Each service call results in a different diagnosis leaving me bewildered. The Presidential liaison overseeing the repair process seems unhelpful merely suggesting repetitive technician visits. The last service technicians rudeness added insult to injury. The current technician claims he cant even test the unit properly and has replaced gaskets without identifying the actual issue. This ordeal has stretched over a month creating an intolerable situation. This experience with the LG dishwasher has been a regrettable and infuriating investment.

Dont waste your money.

Sunnyhoney 1/17/2024

I literally couldnt be more displeased. Between the cost of the dishwasher and the cost of the extended warranty I paid close to $1000 for that expensive of an appliance. I expect it to work phenomenally. After about a year of owning it it stopped dispensing soap correctly and would consistently throw an error code saying that the soap was not dissolved even though we were using the correct soap for it. We tried different types of brands of soap and it did not remedy the situation. We would often have to run the dishwasher two or three times for the dishes to come out clean and at that point really what is the point of having a dishwasher? Eventually after three years the wheel on the bottom rack fell off and when removing the lower rack the prong that had held the wheel caught on the metal gasket holding the seal around the outside of the dishwasher and it tore off using absolutely no force other than the usual strength. It takes to pull out a bottom rack on a dishwasher. When we called LG with these concerns we were hung up on multiple times placed on long holds I spent eight hours one day trying to get a hold of an LG representative and did not hear back from anyone. When I finally did get a hold of someone. It was after spending another day on the phone for eight hours between Home Depot and LG and after three days of going back-and-forth between multiple people they finally sent somebody to come look at it to fix it. When the gentleman arrived to fix it he told me it was not fixable and we would need to get a new dishwasher and that LG should cover it because it was obviously due to poor manufacturing the soap dispenser wasnt working it wasnt spraying water on the top rack and even if a wheel did fall out- it shouldnt have been able to catch the gasket and rip it off. however when LG followed up with me after I called them four days in a row trying to get an update they informed me that the dishwasher was not repairable due to customers fault and that they will not fix anything on the dishwasher or replace anything on the dishwasher so we paid $1000 for a dishwasher that sucked poor customer service and a dishwasher that only lasted three years.

Great dishwasher with longevity concerns

techienerd01 1/2/2024

Weve owned this dishwasher since February 2022. Overall I really like this dishwasher. I love the various features on it. I was a nursing mom at the time we bought it and having the steam cycle on it was tremendously helpful as I knew all the baby bottles and pump parts were getting sanitized properly without having to purchase an actual sterilizer. I loved how quiet it was and the 3rd rack was great for all of the teeny tiny knick knacks that we needed to wash. I also liked having this connect to the ThinQ app as getting the notifications on my phone that it was done washing dishes was very convenient on days that we had a lot of dishes. I also appreciated the reminders to run the tub clean cycle and clean out the filter at the bottom of the dishwasher otherwise this maintenance item would have gone forgotten in our house. However as the dishwasher has aged we have experienced some issues with it. First we did get the crack in the control panel right through the middle of the power button. Fortunately the dishwasher is still functioning fine but the crack continues to get bigger and bigger and I worry that soon the power button will stop working. The older it gets the louder it gets. When we first got it I was truly shocked at how quiet the dishwasher was and now it runs very noisily. It makes a sound almost like a dish is hitting a spray arm however I ran a tub clean cycle with no dishes in the dishwasher and it made this same noise. It also makes a high pitched whistling noise and a lower pitched whine. It unfortunately continues to get noisier the longer time goes on. Lastly and most recently we have discovered that dishes are no longer getting cleaned. Ive tried a multitude of operations normal auto heavy pot and pans high temp dual zone and every combination thereof and dishes continue to not get clean. I have tried everything I can think of to get this resolved cleaning the nozzles on the spray arms running the tub clean cycle with an Affresh tablet or the suggested vinegar bowl in the manual to no avail. Even if I rinse the dishes clean they are still coming out dirty ie with an oily film on them. Very frustrating because I love every other part of this dishwasher Fortunately we did buy a protection plan through the third party we purchased this dishwasher from so theyre working on getting it repaired but the longevity of this dishwasher does not seem to be good at all. If you choose to purchase this dishwasher knowing the issues that it has I would recommend also getting a protection plan on it as youll probably need to use it even if you adhere to the manufacturers maintenance suggestions put forth in the manual.
